How much floor to order

Measure a room, enter an area you already know, count the pieces that are down, or start from typical room sizes when you have none of those. The extra for cuts is not one flat percentage — a border around herringbone needs more than plain herringbone, and both need more than straight planks.

What are you pricing?

Installation adds the underlay or adhesive, the trims, and a planning range for one fitter’s time.

Add every space that will be covered. An L-shape is the main rectangle plus the return as a bay.

If the room is awkward

Straight plank in a simple room allows 8%. Use the extra when there are nibs, doorways and cupboards the lay cannot swallow. Three or more separate rooms already add 2%, because offcuts travel badly.

Allowances are for ordering. Tape the room before you buy, and keep material back if a later pack might be a different batch. This is not a site survey.
